About Senior Companions of South Dakota

Senior Companions of South Dakota is a volunteer-based in-home service program sponsored by The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society that matches healthy, older adult volunteers with seniors and adults age 21+ who need assistance to live independently. The program provides free companionship and support services, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, and transportation, with a focus on reducing isolation and loneliness in rural communities. Volunteers age 55+ receive an hourly stipend, mileage reimbursement, and personal leave while providing meaningful peer support.
