About Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program, administered by Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio since 1965, is an AmeriCorps Seniors initiative that connects older adult volunteers (55+) with children in schools and early childhood centers who need mentoring, tutoring, and nurturing support. Volunteers receive a modest stipend, paid orientation, mileage reimbursement, and supplemental insurance while making a meaningful impact on vulnerable children's lives. This intergenerational program addresses both the need for adult guidance among children and provides purpose and satisfaction to senior volunteers.
