About Rehabilitation Center-Blind
The Virginia Rehabilitation Center for the Blind and Vision Impaired (VRCBVI) is a state-funded facility dedicated to preparing blind, vision-impaired, and DeafBlind Virginians for employment and personal independence through comprehensive blindness skills training. Located in Richmond, VRCBVI offers individualized programs including orientation and mobility training, braille instruction, access technology education, and case management services, with most participants completing six to nine-month intensive residential programs. The center emphasizes challenging misconceptions about blindness while empowering participants to confidently pursue their goals and develop competency in the skills necessary for independent living and employment.
