About Rakhma Peace Home
Rakhma is a mission-driven non-profit providing home-based assisted living for individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and other forms of memory loss across three residential locations in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Founded in 1984 by Shirley Shaw, Rakhma pioneered the residential social-model of care, emphasizing a person-centered approach in intimate home environments with high staff-to-resident ratios designed to minimize dementia-related behaviors and promote dignity. The organization accepts both private pay and publicly-funded residents without discrimination based on financial ability, and is supported by the State of Minnesota's Living Well at Home grant program.
