The Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman (OSLTCO) is an independent advocate authorized by the federal Older Americans Act and the state Older Iowans Act, dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of individuals residing in Iowa's long-term care facilities. Operating within the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, OSLTCO provides free, confidential services including complaint investigation, systemic advocacy, and education to residents, families, and members of Medicaid managed care programs.
