Independence Unlimited, Incorporated (IU) is a non-residential, non-profit center for independent living established in 1982 that serves diverse populations across 38 cities and towns in Hartford County, Connecticut. Governed and managed primarily by people with disabilities, IU provides aging in place assessments, independent living skills training, peer counseling, and advocacy services to help individuals remain in their own homes and communities as an alternative to institutionalization.
