About Houston Center for Independent Living
The Coalition for Barrier Free Living (CBFL) is a nearly 50-year-old disability advocacy and independent living organization headquartered in Houston, Texas, operating three Centers for Independent Living across the region. CBFL empowers people with disabilities to live independently through comprehensive services including core support, durable medical equipment provision, Social Security benefits counseling, and accessible housing assistance. Founded in 1975 by people with disabilities, the organization remains committed to the belief that independence is a right, not a privilege.
