About Tohono O’odham Nursing Care Authority
The Tohono O'odham Nursing Care Authority (TONCA) operates a Medicare/Medicaid-certified skilled nursing facility with 60 beds and a 10-bed assisted living residence, both designed to serve elders of the Tohono O'odham Nation while preserving their cultural values and Himdag traditions. TONCA provides a continuum of care including skilled nursing, wound care, physical therapy, and enrichment services with a philosophy of O'odham-centered care that emphasizes self-determination and collaborative decision-making. By bringing elder care services back to the Nation, TONCA enables residents to remain connected to their community and receive culturally-aligned care without leaving their homeland.
